Want to get in shape like an A-lister but no idea where to start? Forget the celebrity workout DVDs and books – it turns out that you need look no further than your favourite star’s Instagram feed.
The photo-sharing site is the latest way in which stars are bragging about (sorry, sharing with us) their fitness regimes. From those hitting the gym HARD (hello, Kim Kardashian and your perfectly pert behind) to those finding ways to incorporate the great outdoors into their workouts (WARNING: the picture of Miranda Kerr doing yoga on the beach will leave you with a serious case of life-envy), the ultimate exercise inspiration is only a click away.
Click through the images below to see how the stars stay in shape, as shared on Instagram.
Alessandra Ambrosio: Victoria’s Secret Angel Alessandra finds peace at the hip New York spinning centre SoulCycle.
Bar Refaeli: “Paddle boarding is the way to go,” supermodel Bar posted alongside this snap of her on the water in her native Israel. She’s not wrong: combining balance and strength, the activity gives the body an intense workout, with almost every muscle getting used.
Cameron Diaz: As a relative newcomer to the world of Instagram, there aren’t any selfies of Cam working out – yet. But she did share this make-up-free snap of herself clutching The Body Book, her self-penned tome on how to become “happier, healthier and stronger”. Sign us up to that!
Cara Delevingne: If there’s one thing we know about Cara D, it’s that she likes to have fun whatever she’s doing, so it’s no surprise that she enjoys sports such as surfing (not that you’d know it from the gesture!).
Christy Turlington: At the age of 45, supermodel Christy is showing no signs of slacking on the fitness front – she posted this (annoyingly serene) picture of herself after finishing the New York marathon in November 2013. But it’s no surprise she likes to keep in shape, having returned last year as the face (and body) of Calvin Klein underwear, 25 years after she first appeared in the label’s iconic ads.
Doutzen Kroes: Of COURSE Doutzen Kroes makes sweating it out in the gym look unbelievably sexy. Sigh. OK, this shot was taken from a Victoria’s Secret sport campaign, but still. Hot, hot, hot.
Ellie Goulding: Hii-YAH! Professional warbler Ellie likes a workout with impact, it seems. She told Cosmopolitan magazine: “High-energy sports like Capoeira, which is a martial art dance where you’re constantly on your hips, gets you really good hip muscles.” She added that she likes yoga and running too.
Erin Heatherton: Long for the limbs of a Victoria’s Secret Angel? Then give a dance-inspired workout a try. Erin Heatherton swears by Ballet Beautiful, which she was introduced to by fellow Angel Lily Aldridge, saying: “I love it because all the stuff I do in Ballet Beautiful, like lengthening your body and posture, are things I can apply to my daily life. I feel more graceful and elegant, and who doesn’t want to feel that way?” You’ve got us there, Erin.
Gisele Bündchen: As well as the usual supermodel schedule of running and yoga, Gisele – aka the world’s highest-paid supermodel – likes to get back to nature during her workouts too, and regularly hits the hiking trail to get her sweat on. And when you’re rewarded with views as beautiful as this, why not?
Jourdan Dunn: When it comes to workout motivation, there’s nothing like a pair of killer kicks to make you want to get moving, as Jourdan well knows: check out her flash Gucci trainers!
Julianne Hough: Could trampolining just be the best workout ever? Not only does it improve muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness, but it’s also MEGA FUN. Just ask Julianne Hough, who tweeted this pic with the caption: “Was supposed to go on hike… But ended up in a pit of foam instead! That was a serious workout!!!”
Karlie Kloss: Alessandra isn’t the only Angel who loves a bit of SoulCycle – Karlie Kloss posted this post-spinning snap of her next to the gym’s inspiring slogan, which reads: “Athlete. Legend. Warrior. Renegade. Rockstar. SoulCycle.”
Kelly Osbourne: Kelly-O’s weight loss has been well documented in the celeb gossip pages, but what’s behind her body makeover? On top of hitting the treadmill, practising yoga and using a hula hoop (for reals!), Kel recently tried Piloxing – a cardio fusion of standing Pilates, boxing and dance. Sounds fun! Here she is posing with Piloxing founder Viveca Jensen.
Kelly Rowland: Ah, the dreaded plank – an exercise as evil as it is effective. But K-Row seems to be having a jolly old time doing this one, doesn’t she?
Kim Kardashian@ Kim K gave us serious pangs of guilt about our diet of chocolate and cheese over the Christmas period by posting this snap of her and pal Blac Chyna hitting the gym first thing in the new year.
Lea Michele: As well as all that dancing on Glee, Lea likes to get outdoors too. Here she is combining a hike with a spot of yoga. Did she just invent hoga?!
Miley Cyrus: In case you hadn’t noticed, Miley got herself into freakin’ awesome shape last year, as we know from seeing her in various states of undress on-stage and in her videos. She even managed to combine a workout on the exercise bike with the shooting of her video for We Can’t Stop. #Dedication.
Miranda Kerr :Here’s former Victoria’s Secret Angel Miranda Kerr doing a crab. In a bikini. On a beach. Jealous much?
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley: RHW has just given us a new 2014 resolution to add to our list: perfect our yoga handstand. Respect, Rosie, respect.
Vanessa Hudgens: We’re pleased for you and your enviable upper body strength Vanessa, really we are, but this is just showing off, OK?
