8 reasons to get excited about J. Crew’s UK launch

As the US label opens the doors of its first London store, we look at the key pieces from their current collection

Today’s the day. We’ve wished, we’ve prayed, and finally the fashion gods have taken pity on us. Yes, today is the day that J. Crew open their very first UK store on London’s Regent Street – hurrah!

The US label is a massive deal across the pond, with 227 stores and an army of A-list devotees, including Michelle Obama, Sarah Jessica Parker and Beyonce, and until now was only available to UK shoppers via the J. Crew website (with orders taking up to two weeks to arrive) or by paying a visit to the good old US of A. Which works out as one expensive shopping trip.

So, what can British shoppers expect from the American brand? Well, first of all, some pretty steep prices. This is not bargain-basement shopping: the label sits at the upper end of the high street price, and there’s already been a bit of controversy about prices being marked up in the UK.

But, as Jessie J taught us, it’s not about the price tag, and once you get past that you soon realise that these are pieces worth the investment. From embellished knits and outerwear to beautifully cut dresses, not to mention the luxurious finishing touches, there’s plenty to love about the label.
